Someone asked me today, and I quote...

"What's the difference between "3D" and "3D Ready", passive 3D and active 3D?"

I felt like I was in the Twilight Zone.

I'll take a stab at this....

• A 3D TV will likely allow you to watch 3D from day one as the glasses are included....
• A 3D Ready TV will be cheaper as you need to add the glasses later.
• Active 3D has glasses with LCD shutters that flip between your left and right I to see the left and right images
• Passive 3D has polarized glasses which project old scan lines to one eye and even scan lines to the right eye.  So basically you never get to see the full 1080 image, each eye gets to see half of it.

So the next question is the number of kids you have or plan to have more...

• the bigger the family.... the more glasses you need
• passive glasses will be cheaper than active shutter glasses

Note, once you settle with a TV maker.... you cannot take your glasses to a friends to enjoy unless they have the same TV maker.

I don't think SlimJim77 was posing the question. I think they are very well aware of what each is and what the difference is. I think they were just saying that they are still hearing that question being asked.

Sharp does have a 60" or 70" touch screen model that can be ordered through one of our Marketplace vendors.  Can't imagine the price on an 80" touch screen, though.  Already $4,500 for the base model.  Another grand for 3D and 240hz.
