Surround Sound not working properly

We bought a Samsung HDTV with 3D technology last winter and upgraded our surround sound receiver to the Dennon AVR- 1611 with 3D technology. We had the Geek Squad come to our house and mount the TV and set up the surround sound. We bought the Logitech Remote for all of the pieces in the theater to work. However, since we started using the remote the surround has not sounded the same. Not sure why? Any suggestions?

Thanks for any help.

All products in our theater were bought at Best Buy!

Re: Surround Sound not working properly

Somewhat confusing so could you please clarify:

Did you just recently upgrade to the Denon reciever, or was this the one that GS came to set up?

And give your best discription of not sounding right. To be honest, a remote would have nothing to do with it unless a user accidentally hit a button and not realizing it, possibly changing the equalizer.

Re: Surround Sound not working properly

When the Geek Squad installed our Denon, they also mounted the surround sound. We added the remote a week after the installation. The back speakers they mounted, which to me should have a lot of sound when movies, drama shows, or anything else with deep base play, but they don't. I can only really hear sound from the front speakers that are near the TV. There is sound coming from the back speakers but does not seem to be enough. Im not sure if that sounded better than my last post. Basically, the sound coming from the back speakers which are mounted behind our couch, do not make the sound I believe should. Before we installed the remote, the Denon would read Dolby Digital, now it reads MCH STEREO SAT from the display screen. Why the change?

Thanks again,

Re: Surround Sound not working properly

This is a common complaint I recieve in the store actually as far as the back speakers. The ones in the rear are not suppose to be on all the time. You wouldn't want to see me talking to you, but have my voice come from behind you, it's not natural. Along with any other movie, they are only suppose to be for more ambient noises, a fly buzzing behind your head, cars flying by etc. Definitely should not hear someone talk through them.

As far as the Multi-Channel Stereo, that needs to be changed to a digital surround. I can not tell you how to perform this as I am not a GSI, and any changes made to your installation would void their work warranty. You are entitled to call Geek Squad for a troubleshooting call. They may be able to guide you through this over the phone or may have an installer scheduled to come out and have a look especially since our work is guaranteed for a year. But if there is nothing wrong with the initial installation they may have to charge you as this might be considered a new installation.

Re: Surround Sound not working properly

Which Harmony remote did you purchase?  Do you also have the original remote handy?  If you have the original in front of you,  just hit the 5.1 prologic button.  One  reason the speakers are lower could be the volume setting of the rears was never adjusted and just the 5.1 dolby was.  I could be wrong but that is what it sounds like.

Re: Surround Sound not working properly

You should be also able to select this on your receiver as well. Depending on the Harmony remote you have you can manually move or add where the different features or buttons are for each setting.
