Sound System Advice

Hello,

I have a Fujitsu Plasmavision TV from around 2005 that is still working well.  However, I need a new sound system for it, as my ancient speakers are failing.  The only other things hooked up are the cable box and an old mini Quasar system.  What would be the best route for me to go?  I'm sure it won't be too long until I replace my TV, so I need something that I can use with the old and the new.  Thanks for your help.

Re: Sound System Advice

Good Morning Mary,

Thank you for joining our community seeking advice on a new sound system for your TV. Hearing that you still have a working plasma TV is very impressive! I’d be happy to make a few recommendations, but to do so I’d need some more information.

Can you please share what you have for inputs, and outputs on your TV? Or the model number of your TV? Once I have those details I’d be able to make better recommendations tailored to you. Please also indicate a ballpark range for price so I can ensure I can find you something that works into your budget.

Kindly,

Re: Sound System Advice

Hi Mariah,

Thanks for getting back to me about my Fujitsu plasma tv.  The model is P55XHA40US.  As far as inputs and outputs, there is 1 HDMI input, several video and audio inputs, an external speaker output terminal, and the power input terminal.

As far as cost goes I'm not sure.  I'd like to get a good quality system, but Im not sure what they even start at.  What do you think?  Thanks very much for your help.

Re: Sound System Advice

Morning Mary,

Most people will choose to go with a soundbar with wireless sub if they’re not look for a full home theater option.

Our best-selling Soundbars on BestBuy.com are the following items:

LG 2.1 Channel Soundbar System with Wireless Subwoofer

Samsung 2.1 Channel Soundbar System with 7” Wireless Subwoofer

Sony 2.1 Channel Sounbar System with Wireless Subwoofer

You’d connect those using a digital optical audio!

If you’re looking for a more of a traditional system you can always connect some wireless rears to the Samsung Soundbar option. Those speakers can be located here.

Please let me know if you’re looking to go a more traditional route of a receiver, and 5.1 or 5.2 system. I’d be delighted to make to those recommendations for you too.

Respectfully,

Re: Sound System Advice

Hi Mariah,

Thanks so much for your advice.  Can I stream Netflix etc. through any of these soundbars?  I don't have a smart phone believe it or not, I still have my old flip phone which works fine for what I need it for. Thanks for your help.

Re: Sound System Advice

Hi Mary,

A soundbar's main objective is to enhance your listening experience. It doesn’t double as a streaming device. If you’re looking to stream Netflix you can do so with a streaming device. Most likely when you go to update your TV it’ll be a SMART TV that already has the application. You’re welcome to review our Streaming Devices here.

Please let me know if you have any questions about any of them, and I’d be happy to help you answer  them!

Cheers,
