We have an appoximately 2 year old Sony Surround Sound Wireless system. For the last few weeks, it works fine and then for no apparent reason "goes silent". We have to turn it off, turn it on---then works for maybe 30 minutes? Is this system dying? (There are no loose connections). System was installed by Geek Squad.

Sounds like there is certainly an internal problem. Since it is two years old, it is out of warranty, unless you bought the Black Tie protection plan. If out of warranty, it's probably not feasible to repair. What is the model number of the unit?

What model is this? Have you made any configuration changes at all? Added anything new to the room/house that uses wireless? Moved any cables around?

The model number is: BDV-E770W/T77.
I have to say, if this unit is fried--------with less than 2 years of use, I will NOT be buying Surround Sound again. Seems to me that is a very shoddy product.

See Model on earlier reply, and "no" there have been no changes to the room, nothing new, nothing moved etc... If the unit is truely a goner----picture me "disgusted" as the reliability stinks.

Nothing man made last forever. You would have probably gotten better reliability with a wired system.

If "wired" is truely more reliable----it would have been good customer service for the Best Buy employee to say so. Bought this one on their recommendation. Doesn't leave me with a good impression of Best Buy or their advice.

Wow...last few weeks the exact same thing has happened to me!!! Ever since the Geek Squad installed a new TV for me on 2/22, the Sony surround sound will occasionally mute itself for no reason. I have to unmute it manually through my remote. This has never happened before and I also bought it 2 years ago! However, mine is not wireless

You see, Cathie, here is a WIRED Sony system with problems. Perhaps the blame rest with Sony?
