I recently hooked up a Sony Blu-Ray player to my Sony Ex500 television. After watching my first blu-ray on it (Saving Private Ryan) I noticed a problem with some of the lighting. For example there was a scene with a couple of fires and the light from the fire made sort of an orange halo above the fire that gradually continued up the screen. It is definetly a problem with a setting on the television or blu-ray, but I cannot figure out what it is. If anyone has any suggestions to solve this problem please let me know! Thanks for your time and help!

Not sure if calibration will help. The quality of Sony products has continued to decline over the last 5 or 6 years, and their TV products seem to have suffered the most. Most knowledgeable people won't even place Sony in the top 5 any more.
I hope you get your issue resolved.

Thank you for the link to this site. I am looking through all the postings right now and if nothing else this will at least inform me of different ways to improve my TV.
