Sony EX500 Calibration Question

I recently hooked up a Sony Blu-Ray player to my Sony Ex500 television. After watching my first blu-ray on it (Saving Private Ryan) I noticed a problem with some of the lighting. For example there was a scene with a couple of fires and the light from the fire made sort of an orange halo above the fire that gradually continued up the screen. It is definetly a problem with a setting on the television or blu-ray, but I cannot figure out what it is. If anyone has any suggestions to solve this problem please let me know! Thanks for your time and help!

Re: Sony EX500 Calibration Question

Not sure if calibration will help.  The quality of Sony products has continued to decline over the last 5 or 6 years, and their TV products seem to have suffered the most.  Most knowledgeable people won't even place Sony in the top 5 any more.

I hope you get your issue resolved.

Re: Sony EX500 Calibration Question

There may be a firmware update for tis issue (HDMI color correction) on the Sony consumer site here:
http://esupport.sony.com/US/
You will need your full model number and an empty flash drive to update the TV. They can also send you a pre-loaded flash drive with the update already on it. If your TV is connected to the internet, you may be able to download it directly.

Thank you for the link to this site. I am looking through all the postings right now and if nothing else this will at least inform me of different ways to improve my TV.

Re: Sony EX500 Calibration Question

If you click on 'drivers & downloads', put in your model, it will show you any firmware updates that are available for your TV. I did a search for the EX500 line and the 40" version showed an update for HDMI color rendering issues.
