I bought the R60XBR1, eight repairs later and I still have a broken piece of crap! Check BB's policy for repairs. I believe that after three repairs you can request an "exchange". Whatever that is??? I am waiting for my request to be approved.

Unfortunately that is the joy of using a product. Your car breaks down, your computer has problems, so do TV's.
If it makes you feel better I see panels go out on nearly every brand of TV on a weekly basis

I'm sure TV's are like anything else - they do breakdown- that is the reason I spent the extra money to get a Sony-it just seems like it should last longer than 16 months for $3000. Sony is helping me out with the purchase of a new Sony 46XBR9 for a discounted price - I am still out $800 for my new TV & without my TV for a month or so now. I will be sure to buy the extended warranty this time. I was not sure about buying another Sony but they offered me 3 different models for a good price-52XBR9 for $1475.00 -is about a $3500.00 TV - 46XBR8 for $1875.00-is about a $3600.00 & then the one I bought. I looked at other options but the comparable TV's were going to be around $2000 or better so I stuck with the Sony. I felt a little better about Sony after ther offered the discount price. I guess the brightside is I will have a new top of the line Sony!

If it helps I had problems with my XBR4, the main picture board went out on it, I luckily had the 4yr from best buy and got it fixed real quick.
I would say that XBR8 would be a great deal, that's better in my opinion than the XBR9 I don't care about 240hz I would rather have the local dimming LED. That would probably be the best deal that they are giving you there, otherwise you can check Best Buy but Im pretty sure you wont see pricing like what Sony is offering for the same type of TV's from any other manufacturer.
