Setting Up Dynex LCD

I purchased a Dynex 15" LCD TV this weekend.  Installation was easy except for one thing I'm not sure I did correctly. I have satellite service. When the set wanted me to Autoscan for channels, which choice should I have used, "Air" or "Cable"?

Welcome to the forum, LAharrt.

You should not be using the TV's setup menu for your application. The source of your TV is satellite, thus it requires the use of a set-top box.

Your satellite provider offers an HD box that you'll want to connect to the TV via HDMI or component video.

Re: Setting Up Dynex LCD

Thank You for the welcome

I had the satellite box already hooked up & when I turned on the TV for the first time it prompted me to do an autoscan for channels.  I don't remember there being an option not to do that. So I chose "Air". Was that wrong & should I look at it again to see if it can be "undone", so to speak?

Re: Setting Up Dynex LCD

Now that the initial setup is complete, you should be able to use the source selector on the TV to switch to input that you connected your box to. There's no need to undo the prior setup.

Re: Setting Up Dynex LCD

Good morning,  just piggy backing on this.  We have Direct TV also and when the TV scanned for channels it came up with 0.  Now I used the antenna setting.  going from emory I had three choices, antenna, cable with box and cable with no box.  Should I have used the cable with box option.?

For future reference don't dig up threads that are over a year and a half old. If you have a issue create a new thread.

But with satellite wether it be Dish Network or DirecTV. Just use the antenna option because you dont have cable either (you have satellite) and no matter which one you select the TV will not find any channels.
