pjn,
I also have a 56" Sammy DLP that's a little over 4 years old, and it too is beginning to show the white dots. I've called twice, including a call to ECR, and could not get them to cover the repair. What did you tell them? Also, would you mind posting your model code? I was told mine hasn't been reported at all...not good for me.

In general, when diplomacy and reason fails, speaking with a Supervisor, reminding them how much you paid for your item and expressing concern over the current issue and regarding future purchases from their company, can often get you some consideration.
Feel free to adjust verbiage to drive your point across, I tried to make the suggestion as politically correct as possible as you may have noticed. ![]()

Call 1-800-SAMSUNG and have your model code# and serial # available. I just did, and they are replacing the DMD (digital micromirror device) on my 5 year old 46". Because it's 5 years old, I have to pay for service, but the part is free. Hope this helps.

We have the white dots on our 42:" TV. Called Samsumg they will cover the part but not service. The service is 150 bucks. They called today to set up the service call but suggested we just go buy a new Samsung instead duh......I have two Samsungs if the other one which is about 1 year old (the one with the problem is 2) I will be unhappier. DO NOT BUY SAMSUNG....It's a gimmick. Two years and just throw it away and go buy another one.......Then they tried to tell me they were number 1 in customer service....They are #1 in taking your money! This is a common problem in Samsung and they know it.....I am going to report it to better business bureau.

Having the same issue with my TV - nearly 5 years old. Samsung was very nice, but they don't seem to repair this issue for free anymore. They said the part is free - but I'd have to pay for labor, etc.
Does anyone know if this model has been repaired for free in the past: HLS4676SX/XAA
Thanks!

The problem is the DMD chip. I had the same problem last month. I brought the chip and was going to install it. There is a video on YouTube on how to do this. Unfortunately the video does not tell you that the piece is installed at an angle. I am not tech savvy and had trouble replacing the chip. Now I have a $300 chip and have to pay someone to install it. Your problem can be fixed with a little patience.

We have a samsung 62" tv. We called samsung and escalated with no result
Model : HLT6156W
Serial : B33V3CKPC00060H
Ticket Number : 4113889715
Basically they told us (without even asking or listening to the serial number) That our TV is not included in the issue, so it's normal wear and tear? A Tv that is less than 4 years old is supposed to get white dots????
Why is samsung saying that only specific models are being repaired? It's the same chip woth the same problem in all of these TV's
The first rep told us that is was a problem with TVs manufactured in 2007 (which ours was December 2007) the next rep told us that it was in certain only in certain units manufactered in 2004 and 2007 and 2009....
Again on escalation, the final rep told us that this was not the part (without asking or listening to the model or serial number of our TV) that was included in the repair issue....yet she didn't know the paert that was or the part that's in our TV....IM Angry that Samsung will not stand behind their product.
Do I have any recourse?

So if anyone remembers my 'wonderful' experience a few months ago... It has been a nightmare since. They said someone would call/be out aroudn Dec 23rd. Then I heard nothing back for a week and a half. I got in touch, via chat, several times with them (five times) and each time was told someone would come out/contact me within a few days and they never did. No new ticket number or anything. Called again today and was told that I would have to pay because the 'program' ended and I would have to pay out of pocket for labor. I said that was BS and my phone died during the call. Got on chat for a sixth time and then said I was POed and miraculously I was given a new ticket number, received my first email confirmation ever, and am now confident I will be getting it fixed... It takes some serious patience... In all the waiting, I got a new 3D TV from LG -- passive not active... If anyone else is shopping for a new TV, now is the time before all of the models are replaced and nothing is on sale in a few weeks. Mine was marked down from $2,500 to $1,300...
