Wow, so, it was 90% resolved... which could have been 0% resolved...
Anyone looking at this thread now -- the totally free giveaway of parts/labor to repair this ended on January 1st... ish. It was sometime in January. They will not give you free labor anymore -- for my market, it was $180 + sales tax, so $195 here in TX.
Thankfully, I called for the first time on Dec 19th and they were nice enough to respect my initial request date to have someone come out, and my initial ticket date from Dec 19th, so they are going to finally have someone come out Tuesday, totally free of charge, to fix it.
Persistence pays off, and so does a touch of frustration, but no profanity/insults. Ten contacts with Samsung total and it's finally taken care of... for good, for real, this time.

I first saw the "white dots" on my Samsung HLT5675s last Monday Febryary 20 2012. It started off as 3 white dots and by this past Tuesday (1 week) there were well over 100. Last week when i called samsung regarding the issue, they advised me that i am elegible for the free part but that i had to pay for the labor. What??? Samsung has a defect and i have to pay for the labor? What about the other defect that i ha only 2 months ago and i paid for the part to get fixed because they would not. My tv would not turn on for sometimes 30 minutes after pressing the power button??? Ive had this TV since 2007 and have nothing but issues. Ive already had to replace the bulb 2 times as well as the DM board and the capacitor (power supply) Obviously i asked to speak to a manager. I explained my situation and she decided i needed to be passed to the ECR department. They were so helpful and considering the issues with my tv over the years, put in a request for an exchange at a prorated price. They finally called me back this week and offered me a 2011 55" Samsung led tv brand new for less then $1000. I am very pleased with this offer as the TV runs between $1500-$2000. I only paid $1100 for my DLP so i am happy and will be ordering my new TV this weekend. All you have to do is complain and force them to put the right person on the phone!!!

Purchased a Samsung HL 72A650C. Television has white dots. Samsung claims that my model does not have this problem and that this represents normal wear and tear. When a company has a known problem with a component, rebranding it with a new model number does not resolve this issue. My last big screen set lasted 15 years without incident. Claiming that a television becoming dysfunctional after 3 and a half years is "normal" is crap.
If I was aware of this problem at the time of purchase I would NEVER had purchased this unit.

I have a Samsung Slim LED DLP TV, model=HLT5687SX/XAA Serial= {edited per forum guidelines} Version=RE01, that has hundreds of white dots. It is a well known defect in the DMD module or DLP Chip and it is disappointing that Samsung won''t cover this manufactured defect. I have spoke with Samsung Support, transaction number 5103231880, but they are not going to do anything about it. It is the last Samsung product I buy.
