Re: Samsung DLP White dots on screen

Also, if TV is out of warranty, some persistence through Samsung should get the repair covered by them at no cost to you.

Re: Samsung DLP White dots on screen

After reading scores of posts on many sites including this one and CNET, the best way to get you set fixed under warranty seems to be a call to 1-800-SAMSUNG, asking to speak to a supervisor once you've been denied warranty, getting a case number for your call and then going to the Samsung Facebook or Twitter page (which you can link to from CNET's Samsung Forum) and requesting a free repair based on all the postings by using their Service Request Form. I have a 4-year-old 50" Samsung DLP that the phone rep said "was not on the list of those being repaired for free" but, when I used Facebook and Samsung's form, I received a "free, one-time warranty repair" for the white dots problem. Hope this helps! Eric

Re: Samsung DLP White dots on screen

We took our Samsung to D&L electronics in FT. Lauderdale and had it fixed in one day for less than $100 bucks

Re: Samsung DLP White dots on screen

I've called Samsung twice and they have denied me a free service call.  They say my model 3 is not covered.  This happened on both calls.  I escalated up three levels ( they wouldn't go any higher ) and they still wouldn't do anything.  They told me to email or write a letter to the office of the president.  I'm sure that's a blow off move.  Any suggestions?

Re: Samsung DLP White dots on screen

I haven't had any better luck either since my eariler post.. I've called the number and even posted on their face book.  They just keep saying the same thing.. My model isn't on either of the two lists and my tv is out of warranty. If your model is on the list great for you.. But if your TV isn't on the list I guess it doesn't matter that it has the same exact defect as the ones on the list,, your still SOL..

Re: Samsung DLP White dots on screen

THANK YOU to this thread! Was worried I would have to dump my TV. My model number is

HLT5075SX

Here was the latest chat message from a Samsung rep:

If your unit exhibits white dots appearing on the screen on all sources and channels, Samsung will provide a onetime, free of charge, courtesy repair to replace the DMD chip only.  If the service center determines the issue is not related to the DMD chip, you will be responsible for the service center's trip charge and the cost of any repairs performed.

All I said was:

Visitor: I have a DLP TV and it's starting to develop white pixels on the screen
Visitor: I understand it may be out of warranty but I was seeing if there was anything that could be done since it seems relatively widespread

After just 3 troubleshooting questions, a work order was created. A+ samsung! Will buy my next TV from you, too.

Re: Samsung DLP White dots on screen

Samsung has denied my claim for the 4th time.  I even wrote the president's office.  I guess I'm going to end up paying for the white dot repair.  Does anybody know how much this will cost me?  If I pay i hope it lasts awhile.

Re: Samsung DLP White dots on screen

Samsung was no help to me either.  Unfortunately, I had to buy another TV (different brand).

Be sure to file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission (www.ftc.gov).  If Samsung won't respond to their customers maybe they'll respond to the government.
