I hooked up a Samsung 40D550 CCFL 1080p 60hz Tv to my Comcast box (Motorola DTC 2000, i think) Non HD, Non DVR just the plain big box that was giving out when they wanted to get analog subscribers to move up to digital. Anyway, I ony seem to be getting 4:3 for a pic. When I chose 16:9 in the TV settings all I get is a stretched out 4:3. I tried to look for an adjustment on the box but could not find anything. I went in the menu for the TV and did not find any thing other then choosing 16:9 or 4:3 and two types of zooms. Everything else was greyed over and not available. Includied in the greyed over was "auto adjust" or something like that. Should I have access to that. The TV is set up through the coaxial cable. I went to Comcast in the next town and they said that it was the TV , not the cable box as all their boxes send 16:9 when available whether the boxes are HD or not. I am at a loss.
Thank you in advance for your help in this matter.

yeah I read that there was but can not find it. I did try the fix that I had found of the internet. That being leaving tv on and turning off box, then hitting menu for a grey screen , but none showed up. So I was thinking that the solution was for a different box?
Thanks for your reply.

The DCT-2000 will only do 4:3. Any 16:9 content will be letterboxed on the top and bottom to fit inside the 4:3 frame. You need to upgrade to a HD capable box, or run your cable signal straight to the TV.

That is what I was afraid of , despite what the Comcast office said.
Thank you for your reply
