Re: Samsung LCD TV Clicks on and off repeatedly (lnt4671fx/xaa)

Hello. I have a Plasma Samsung TV that turns itself off and on, but not like a lot of people here have described. Mine was manufactured in February 2014, purchased at Best Buy in April of 2014.

I'm not entirely sure when the issue started, but the TV works fine for between 20 mins - 4 hours before it starts to turn off and back on. Interestingly, It seems to start doing it sooner depending on what I happen to be watching. Movies and Netflix never cause it to power cycle, tho if it was already doing it, it will continue to. Watching football, it will last between 3-4 hours before power cycling. Normal TV shows can play for 4 straight hours at least. Watching basketball on TV (TNT, ESPN) usually causes it to power cycle within 30 minutes.

Once it starts to power cycle, it only gets worse the longer the TV is on, eventually getting to the point where it only stays on for about 30-60 seconds before cycling again. If I turn the TV off and back on, it lasts longer, but will always start doing it again. The longer it is off, the longer it will go before cycling again.

I have tried unplugging the TV while it is on and leaving it unplugged for 30 seconds, as suggested on Samsung's website, but that didn't help.

Do you have any idea what could be the problem or what I should try to do next? Unplug everything and see how it goes? I do have a Roku plugged in with HDMI, and a coaxial cable from my Set Top Box (Verizon Fios). Any help you could give me would be much appreicated.

Model Number is PN51F5300AF, 51" Plasma TV

Re: Samsung LCD TV Clicks on and off repeatedly (lnt4671fx/xaa)

Hello Draven,

Thank you for reaching out about your Samsung's TV issue with power cycling, and detailing when plus how it occurs.

It sounds like it may have something to do with the intergraded processor that Samsung uses on their 2014 models. Sports require your TV to use it's higher refresh rate capabilities to keep up with the constant motion, and you say that when you're watching Basketball it will power cycle sooner & more often.

At this point I highly recommend reaching out to Samsung directly regarding this matter to see what they might be able to advise at this time.

Respectfully,

Thank you Mariah, I will contact Samsung. This is the first real answer I've found about my problem so far.

Re: Samsung LCD TV Clicks on and off repeatedly (lnt4671fx/xaa)

Update: I reached out to Samsung, but they said they were not aware of any issues with those models of TV, and gave me the normal list of things to try, such as unplugging, trying a different outlet, updating the firmware (it already was), hard resetting the TV, etc. I tried all those things to indulge them, but none of them worked. I wrote back to them and told them so, and am now waiting for an answer. If worse comes to worst, would that processor replacement be something Best Buy could fix for me?
