Great tv put having a problem hooking up my surround sound to it. I'm using red and white connections but the red (right) connection on the back of tv(audio output) does not work. It's not my tuner because my cd player and ipod work great.

This is actually the second tv. I returned the first because of this problem but having the same result. Am I doing something wrong? Customer service just wants me to exchange for another again but I'm getting a little tired of driving down there.

I'm assuming that both the red and white cables are plugged into the tuner/receiver in a left and right input?? The inputs that you use for the cd player, are they red and white also? If so, did you try using that input for the tv and see if you get the same problem? Also, depending on the audio cables you are using, the cable might be backwards. Some audio cables are directional and only work if plugged in the right direction.

What you might try instead of using the left/right is using the digital coax out (orange) from the TV to the receiver digital coax in. This way, you have the capability to send a true surround signal to your surround sound. Left and right just give you left and right.

Also to note, what do you have plugged into your tv? The problem could be coming from there.

Thanks for the response.  I'm pretty sure I have the red and white cable colors set correctly. There is just no response from the red output on the tv. I'm going to try the orange digital cable next. I'll let you know. Thanks.

I have a Brighthouse HD cable box conected with all of their connections and a Vizio Blu-ray player conected with an HDMI cable.

I tried the orange coaxel cable and got no results. Will I have to haul the tv back again? Can they check it in the store to make sure I'm not doing something wrong? I just don't want them to replace it again and have the same problem.
