I have a 2 year old plasma.    Every hour or so the sound goes off for about 10 seconds.    Anyone have any idea is this is my TV or is cable having issues?

Do you have cable/satellite, or use an antenna? Intermittent sound and video is not uncommon for those using an antenna.

Do you connect via HDMI or composite/component? You could try some different connection methods to see if it's the TV or the cable company. If you suspect it's the cable company, call your cable provider and insist someone come out and inspect the box and the wiring.
