Other Smart TV's?

Hi there,

I know BestBuy specifically mentioned that Google TV was the only Smart TV currently on the market, but I was wondering if there were any more coming out on the horizon?  Also, is there any evidence of Internet capable TV's converting to Smart TV's? Finally, I was just curious to know what kind of device you consider a Mac Mini; is it a computer with just some Internet capable plug ins for a TV or what?  Thanks in advance guys.

Re: Other Smart TV's?

I personally just don't understand this whole "Smart TV" hype. Having you're laptop hooked to your TV via HDMI or VGA is the smartest TV you're going to have. Are we Americans really this lazy?

To answer the OPs question...it is unlikely anyone will be backing off of Smart TVs. New models are on the way. Best to be patient.

Re: Other Smart TV's?

Although I completely agree with you on their lack of overall practicality (in comparison to a laptop and an hdmi cable), I still don't think it really answers my original question.  I would like to be patient, but I am actually attempting to research this field for one of my classes.  I'm looking around the Internet and finding useful information, but it might help to clarify things if someone more versed in this field could give me some more information.  Thanks.

Re: Other Smart TV's?

LG has its own and Google TV with a buch of options and you can stream pretty much any thing via dlna from any of your systems.

Samsung has samsung brand an the UI is so horrible its almost worth not using.

Panny is ok kinda ugly but functional.

Sony is the worst of the bunch smart TV is not applicable.

Hey! Hey! Hey! How can you say Sony Smart TV is the worst of all the Smartest TVs in the world? Please try to appreciate some times and if you must know, one of the reason that Sony is backing out from its OLED TV tech for now is because it wants to gain competitive advantage over its Smart BRAVIA TV. That’s why, if you look at Sony’s Smart TV, you will noticed some luxurious quality that the others don't have. But then, the Smart TV brands are equally great as well.

Re: Other Smart TV's?

I am sorry to differ here, but the "quality" of Sony TVs has declined dramatically over the last 4 to 5 years.  I would no longer even consider them to be competition for LG, Samsung, etc.  Their build quality is poor, their design is inconsisent, and a quick comparison on the sales floor will show just how poorply their picture quality (out of the box) is compared to the competition.

I can no longer recommend Sony to anyone as a choice for quality.

Did you not see the HX929?

I agree I am not a fan of Sony, but their top ends are still pretty good (with some amazing ones) just the price is always higher also.
