I have a Sony UBP-X800 4k blu ray hooked up to my Onkyo receiver, both brand new. Every time I turn my receiver on and TV to watch a show, 20 seconds later it switches to DVD, pain in the rear. Its in this HDMI switching thing. I have shut the blu ray off but, starts up again when receiver turned back on, confused.

HI chrise2312 –
Welcome to the forums and thanks for posting. I can definitely see how this would be quite frustrating, and will be happy to offer some advice here.
Firstly, can you please clarify which model Onkyo receiver you’re using? Also, are you using any pre-programed universal remote to start up everything with one button press, such as a Logitech Harmony remote?
That said, if your receiver is equipped with RIHD (Remote Interactive over HDMI), or HDMI Control/Switching like you referred to in your post, that is the most likely cause here. I suspect once everything turns on your Blu-ray player is sending a signal to the receiver that causes it to switch inputs. If you haven’t already, I recommend turning this feature off, which you should find instructions on how to do in your receiver’s manual. Please get back to us if that works, or with the information I asked for above so I can look into this further for you.
Sincerely,

Turn off the HDMI control on your AV receiver.
