No Sound from TV or Sound Bar

Purchased a new Samsung 8000 Series TV with HW-M450 Sound Bar a few weeks ago.  It seems almost randomly when turning the TV on, the setting will revert back to TV speakers, so I will change the setting to Digital Opitcal input and it will work fine until the next time it switches the setting.  Now last night sound quit coming thru the TV speakers; so no sound at all.  However, I went into both Neflfix and Amazon and the sound works thru both the TV  speakers and the soundbar.  Not sure what the problem is.  Geek Squad is coming out, but not for a few days, so we are without sound on the regular channels until they come out.  Any suggestions or ideas appreciated.

Welcome to the Best Buy Support Online Forum Community! I’m sorry to hear that your new Samsung TV and sound bar may not be communicating quite right. I’d be happy to see advice I may be able to provide to you.

 

Since you have your Samsung Soundbar connected you’d need to ensure that your TV’s internal speakers are turned completely off. You’d be able to turn them off from the main menu on the TV.

 

How are you getting your content? Do you have a cable box, or are completely streaming? If you’re streaming are you using your TV’s apps, or a streaming device? How is everything connected?

 

I’m happy to hear that you’ve made an appointment with Geek Squad for assistance on this matter. They’d be able to troubleshoot as issues arise.

We have a cable box and we did have the tv setting for audio output to sound bar. Strange, last nite sound started working again. However, audio was set for sound bar and it worked fine, but tv speakers were also outputting sound, so we had to mute tv speakers using the tv remote. Think we might have gremlins in our tv.

I'd say gremlins, or borrowers! I'm happy that muting your TV has fixed the TV speaker issue at this point. 

 

Hopefully, Geek Squad would be able to ensure that everything is connected correctly plus on the right settings. They'll also tidy up the cords for you too.
