I saw Amazon had several streaming devices online, and wanted to understand which I should get - so I went to my local store and found a friendly salesperson in the streaming area, who explained that although it looks like the Alexa stick looks like its the new one, the other stick (same price) actually is a lot better, as it gives access to a lot more shows. We went back and forth for a while on this, but his confidence won me over - particularly the fact that it offered a lot more choices.
It's been bugging me ever since - so I did some searching in this forum - clearly I should have come here first.
Just to confirm, the Alexa fire stick is the newer version, and it does not offer a lot less shows...
Thanks for clarifying!

Streaming devices are my favorite! Personally, my home tends be more Apple dominant so Apple TV is our go to, but Amazon Fire Sticks are always a good option too. Please know that no matter what stage you’re in the purchasing game we’re happy to help, and provide as much information as possible.
Most streaming devices are application based with the exception of the Google Chromecast series which only mirrors your SMART devices. All of the Amazon Fire Stick line would be able to get all same shows as they’re application based. An Amazon Fire Stick with Alexa means you’re able to talk directly to the device to have it search for you, or ask it play your content.
I’d be happy to review your streaming needs to ensure that you did get the correct device.
