I just purchased a LC-55LBU591U. It's plugged in via ARC to my Pioneer VSX-524 receiver.
Turns out, ARC only controls volume (power doesn't turn receiver on and off) and also, the signal coming out of the tv and into the receiver is not surround. It's just stereo, or dolby equivelents. How can I get the TV to send a surround sound signal to the receiver?

Good Morning RicoRicoRico,
Welcome to the Best Buy Support Online Forum Community! Thanks for joining our community to seek some help with your new Sharp TV setup. I’d be happy to see how I can help you further.
Connecting via ARC is always the best connection option, however, Dolby Audio and DTS Surround are passed through the Optical Audio port as it is specialized to carry the sound in the way you need it. I recommend connecting your 55” Sharp to your Pioneer receiver with an optical audio cord. Please let me know if you have any further questions, and I’d be happy to help you answer them.

Thanks for the information.
So then it seems I should not use ARC, since according to the Pioneer VSX-524K model receiver I have, if it's set to ARC, it's fixed to HDMI sound only.
