Need help with wireless speakers for outside patio

I have a 60 in Samsung smart tv that I used to able to somehow in my settings go from hdmi 1 to blue ray. Then go to iHeartRadio. I used my rocket fish unit and hardwired the outside Yamaha speakers and listened to either the radio or the iHeartRadio music from my Yamaha receiver. For some reason we dined into our AT&T WiFi and went logged in and all kinda apps plus iHeartRadio is listed now my speakers won’t pick up iHeartRadio but it will play the fm radio on my receiver. I need help figuring out what I need to do. Is there anything out there that I can do by either buying outside wireless patio speakers that I can use on my iPhone or vice versa buy a Blu-ray WiFi capable receiver? My Best Buy Yamaha receiver is about 2 years old. Thanks so much if any for support.

Re: Need help with wireless speakers for outside patio

Hello Texancobra,

Welcome to the Best Buy Support Online Forum Community! Thank you for posting to our community to seek our advice. Being able to have some music playing can really make your outdoor living space even more fantastic. I’d be happy to point you in the correct direction!

Can you please share more about your current set up? Please include the model number of your receiver. It sounds like you may have the correct components if your receiver is able to operate more than one zone, and it is able to connect to WiFi.

You’re more than welcome to review our Outdoor Speaker inventory here. I look forward to your reply to learn more about what you’re looking for, and currently have to make some recommendations for you.

Respectfully,

Re: Need help with wireless speakers for outside patio

Thanks! My Yamaha receiver is a RX-V377. The rocketfish is wired into it and I have 2 regular non wireless Yamaha speakers on my outdoor patio. I’m thinking the receiver isn’t picking up the WiFi and therefore that’s the reason I am able to hear only the radio outside. IHeartRadio and pandora on our Samsung tv only comes through on the tv. I am not showing an hdmi cable coming out from the receiver. This particular model is not Blu-ray and not sure how many zones.

Re: Need help with wireless speakers for outside patio

Hello Texancobra,

Thanks for sharing those details with me! I really do appreciate it. I took a peek into your receiver, and it doesn’t appear to be multi-zoned.

I’d recommend trying a Wi-Fi extender to remedy the possible dead spot near your receiver. Can you please share how you’re feeding the Wi-Fi into your receiver? Are you still using a Blu-Ray player?

Netgear Universal Wi-Fi Range Extender (b/g/n routers)

Netgear AC1200 Dual-Band Gigabit Wi-Fi Range Extender (ac routers)

If this doesn’t fix the issue then we’d be able to discuss a possible new receiver and outdoor speakers.

Re: Need help with wireless speakers for outside patio

That’s just it. I don’t have any feed into my receiver for the WiFi. My AT&T modem is fiber optics and is only 2 feet from my Yamaha receiver and yes I still have the Blu-ray turned on. Maybe it’s my receiver not being connected to WiFi. How am I able to do that? Thks

Re: Need help with wireless speakers for outside patio

Hello Texancobra,

Thanks for clarifying that for me! Yamaha recommends purchasing an YBA-11 to be able to stream via Bluetooth from your phone, or tablet. The YBA-11 has been discontinued, and is no longer offered.

The issue at hand sounds like your Blu-ray player isn’t utilizing the SMART features. Does your Blu-ray player have the ability to connect to the internet? If does it should work like it used too. Have you checked to ensure it’s connected to your home Wi-Fi network.  Logitech does have a Wireless Bluetooth Speaker Adapter. You can connect it via a 3.5 mm aux cord, or by RCA red & white to your receiver. This should allow you to stream signals from your phone/tablet to your receiver which will push them out to speakers already fitted outside.

Re: Need help with wireless speakers for outside patio

Ok I bought the wireless Bluetooth speaker adapter and on my rx-v377 receiver I couldn’t locate where to connect the rca wires. I see wires already connected to the audio space but they are connected to the back of the Samsung tv. I see and Av out , av5,Av4 and so on but there’s not an auxiliary or anywhere I can see to connect this device to. The device does connect to my iPhone Bluetooth I see but just not connected to my receiver properly.

Re: Need help with wireless speakers for outside patio

Hello Texancobra,

Thanks for sharing that you did purchase Logitech wireless bluetooth speaker adapter. I’m sorry to hear that you’re having some question on where to connect it to.

You’d be able to connect via AV 4 or 5 (you’d just not have a yellow) since you shared that you’re using audio input connected to your TV. While attempting to use the apps within your Blu-ray player you’re still not getting any sound to those external speakers you have mounted?

Re: Need help with wireless speakers for outside patio

Correct am still not able to get any sound or music to my outside patio speakers. So you are saying to just connect the white wire to the Av 4 or Av 5 and don’t attach the yellow to anything? I am only able to music outside using the receiver fm or am music. Nothing on the Blu-ray or tv. Getting frustrated and about to take the Logitech device back. I’ll try one more time to connect it the way you are suggesting though. Thks
