My mom just bought me a Blue Ray player for christmas, it has not arrived yet, but she says that it is not capable of surround sound. Why is this, and how can I make it work with surround sound?

I am not sure why your blu ray player would not support surround sound - running an audio cable to your surround sound will definately work....i do the same with my PS3(my blu ray player)....

Some of the newer Blu Rays(when combined with according blu ray player) using Dolby TruHD makes for some NICE surround sound

What kind of Blu Ray player and surround sound do you have?
