NEW to flat screens - audio help PLEASE

Please HELP!

Yesterday, I bought a 42 inch LED Westinghouse (model LD-4258) from the Citrus Heights store.

While I enjoyed hastle free shopping, I now have something I am unhappy with.

Everything looks BEAUTIFUL!

However, the audio in the TV SUCKS!

Please help me.

I am willing to purchase audio equipment to support the TV but don't know what to buy.

Any advice GRATIOUSLY accepted.

Thanks!

there so many options like sound bar or a complete setup with so many choices. Stop by your local bestbuy and have them show you some different ideas. It just all depends on your budget..

If you're just looking for better sound the go with a soundbar. If you are limited to purchasing from BB due to credit then a Sony HTCT150 is a good option.

Re: NEW to flat screens - audio help PLEASE

ALl modern TVs are meant to only have rudimentary sound.  It is expected that you will use the unit with a sound bar, or with a home entertainment amplifier.  You will not find any flat panels that offer excellent sound.  There are a few that will give marginally acceptable sound, but most, as you have discovered, deliver mediocre sound.

Re: NEW to flat screens - audio help PLEASE

yeah, the audio in virtually all Flatscreens is bad...consider, now that t.v's are flat, there is not enough room to install a good sound system inside the t.v. itself. Hence, the external devices (sound bars, surround sound systems, etc.). I purchased an inexpensive power amp (around $70), hooked it up to the t.v. headphone jack via a "Y" cable (an 1/8" plug which "Y's" to two RCA plugs for the amp). Attached an old pair of speakers to the amp, and...walla...I have great sound!
