Looking for advice... Dynex 42 inch LCD

I bought a Dynex 1080P LCD television sometime in 2008. It's obviously out of warranty at this point, but there is a black smudge like spot that seems to be slowly growing on it. I am assuming this will require panel replacement as I don't think that problem can be linked to any sort of logic board or power supply. Is it worth getting a repair done on it? Has anyone else had this problem with their television?

Thanks

You won't likely be able to get it repaired. It's best to go and buy another TV, but stick to a real brand and not a faux one. Many Dynex and Insignia TVs fail in some non-repairable way within two years.

Yea, seems legit. Cheap TV will decent specs.. something is bound to go wrong right outside of warranty range. I just wanted to make sure there was no recall/rework thing available as I've seen it with the Samsung LCD capacitor and light tunnel issues.

I've had my Polaroid TV from W@l-Mart over 2 years now and it' still doing great.  My TV is way more of an off brand than yours LOL so I think it really just depends.

Nothing I post is an official statment of Best Buy or Geek Squad, it is only a helpful opinion!

I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the black smudge is caused by some of the liquid crystals being bursting.  This is usually caused by some sort of impact to the screen.  This is why it probably looks like an ink blot and is spreading.  Warranties almost never cover this and if you do get it fixed, it won't cost pennies.  That money is better spent towards a new set.
