I picked up this TV this past weekend and I hooked in the coax cable from the wall (Comcast) and for some reason the sound goes in and out on most channels. It is like someone is turning the sound down and back up really fast, it never goes silent but kind of "skips" in the sound. This TV replaced an older 36" RCA tube style tv and it never did this and it was hooked up the same way.
Does anyone have any idea why this is happening? Is it a setting or do you think the TV is bad?
I would like to figure this out before my 30 day return is over. Thanks for your help.

Try hooking up a blu-ray or DVD player or gaming console to the TV using a different cord (hdmi maybe), and see if the sound issue continues. Sounds like the audio part of the coax cable may have a short in it- can happen when unplugging/switching to new TVs. Good luck!

did you ever find a resolution to your sound issue? I've had the same issue, and I've had the cable box replaced, returned the tv and the same make/model of the tv is doing the same thing. If I can't figure out the issue soon, I'll have to return this tv and buy a different make/model.

I bought this tv and it is a total piece of sh!t. I experienced the same audio skipping as mentioned in the first post, returned the tv, and the second one had the same issue. On top of that, the second one had an additional audio defect that causes static and noise when using sound. LG wont replace but said they would come fix under warranty. I took a half day off work and the tech never showed for his scheduled appointment nor did he call and reschedule. I will never buy another LG product again. The nail in the coffin was when my buddy came to visit and upon entering my living room saw the tv and goes "ohhhh noooo i hope thats not a lv5500!!". Evidentally he had similar issues plus others which eventually caused the tv to completly cease functioning not long after the warranty expired. Wow. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!

I resolved my sound issue with upgrading my cable box from a regular cable box to an HD cable box with an HDMI cable. My sound issues revolved around only my cable box and not any other DVDs or video games. So upgrading the cable box solved the issue.

Hello everyone, thanks for the replies. I'm sorry it's been so long since I posted the question but my issue has been resolved for months now. I too upgraded to a new HD converter box from Comcast and changed cables and problem has been resolved. I'm not sure what the exact cause was but after replacing all of that it has been working. I love my tv from best buy and LG. Great buy and so far its been a great tv.
Thanks,
Daniel
