LED
LED is a backlighting of LCD. So it really is a LCD TV with LED backlighting. LED backlighting is superior to traditional LCD backlighting so as such I would reccommend LED 99% if the time over LCD.

Yeah better contrast ratio, local dimming is a pretty good option.
Better black levels.
Leds are probably the way to go and you can get a pretty good sale on one now for the 2011 models.
I saw like a 40% off a LW5600 a week or so ago at bestbuy online.
sharp had a sale for a while there to but I think it finished.

Just think of LED backlighting is generally better. Then Oled as better than that but just out side the range of what most people have an interest in spending on a TV... Though if you have a fair chunk of change and are looking for the best TV you probably want to go the OLED route.
A lot of brands make a decent LED TV i might stay away from samsung though due to all the trouble they have had recently.

I read these a lot but rarley post I forgot my password and lost acess to my orignal forum account. I think your right here Samsung has just had to maybe problems with the spin off business and then the law suit. He is probably not in the market for an Oled TV but if he is I am darn sure he is happy about it.

Thats true but LED is nice...... Your going to get 2 panels now Sony/Samsung (made by ss) and LG as they count for like 99% of the LED TV sales.
Both look nice, with all the Samsung cap issues lately I'm not sure I would get one just for the hassel.

Every one has a huge Issue with those caps.... It is not as bad of a problem as the fliker on the LEDs that samsung makes which is way worse...... you right on sony/samsung being pretty much the same Premium price and a Premium repair bill at this point.
