As you might imagine there is no one-size-fits-all solution or answer. Both technologies offer pros and cons in a few areas.
Until fairly recently, plasma had the better picture, hands-down. But LCD has gotten much better, offering contrast that comes very close to plasma.
But you'll only get that kind of contrast on the better LCDs, which will cost you. Plasma still offers the best picture for the money, and with no motion blur (something many people see on LCDs).
But plasmas run hotter, use more power to run, and are not completely immune to "burn-in"--often seen as a faint image of something left on the screen for long periods. Today's plasmas are highly resistant to this, but not completely immune.
So there are arguments on both sides of the aisle here (and there's a lot more than this). Personally, I still don't think LCD can match plasma for picture quality, but many like the heightened (and unnatural) brightness of LCD.

As many have already pointed out, there are advantages and disadvantages to both technologies.
Some plasma models do feature a computer monitor connection(like my Pioneer plasma), but it really should only be used for short burst of quality PC display.
Those only interested in the best picture quality for movies, sports, gaming etc should strongly consider plasma. Glare is a factor, but a purist won't let that get in the way. That's why man invented shades.
LCDs thrive in bright enviroments. They are also better for those interested in more of a multi media video hub. Game all day....PC all day...no worries. LCD is the more carefree design.
