DVR For Streaming IPTV Recording

I'm considering using an IPTV as a substitute for cable. My TV portion of the bill went up a crazy amount and I am tired of being held hostage. There's an IPTV that has more than reasonable price but since our days include all kinda of different hours a DVR is really how we view our shows. Any ideas how to make this possible for a non tech savvy guy?

We switched to YouTube TV last fall.  It includes DVR service. Well it isn't really DVR, it really just bookmarks your shows.

Re: DVR For Streaming IPTV Recording

Hey rreick10100,

Welcome to the forum.  Lots of people are choosing to cut the cord with cable nowadays, and we want to make sure our customers are well aware of their options if and when they choose to do so.  It sounds like @bobberuchi offered some pretty good advice on this already.  One other suggestion I might add that you may have already looked into is Sling TV.  Sling offers you the ability to watch live TV from over 25 channels, and we are even running a promotion that lets you receive 30 days free on their platform.  Although the majority of streaming devices don't offer a DVR feature that I'm aware of, you may also be interested in checking out our assortment of streaming media players here.

I hope this helps!  Let us know if you have any other thoughts or questions.

Re: DVR For Streaming IPTV Recording

I'm actually giving Set TV a try. I've tried Sling TV a couple times but had so many connectivity issues that couldn't be resolved that I gave up. I have a Firestick that I put the Set Now app on and it is working well. The channel lineup is great and on demand has a large inventory. If I can figure out how to be able to record the shows that we record now life will be great.

Re: DVR For Streaming IPTV Recording

Hey rreick10100,

Glad to hear it! This is the first I've heard of Set TV, but it seems like a neat way to get the channels you want at a lower cost. I hope it works out for you! Keep us updated on your thoughts over the next few weeks, I'd be intrigued to hear if you discover any other useful streaming services.

Cheers,

Re: DVR For Streaming IPTV Recording

There is Showbox. As far as I know it will mostly work on android only. Not on kindle. There are some who claim it can be installed on a PC but I was unsuccessful. If you play it on your android smartphone you can then cast it to Roku. The thing that makes me cautious is that there are some movies offered that are still in theaters and obviously cam. Kind of tap dancing in a space you need to go into with eyes wide open.
Tv on demand shows are always good quality and there is a huge selection. I dabbled with Kodi but itwas so unreliable after only a few days after refresh I walked away from it. Some people swear by Terrarium TV it was ok but just more cumbersome than I like.

You can change your service provider.
