Connecting blue ray to older tv

I purchased a Sony Blu-ray BDP-S6700, but my TV only has composite inputs. I purchased an HDMI to composite converter, which can convert up to 1080p. When I turn on the blu-ray player, the TV shows the blu-ray symbol for a couple seconds, then the signal stops and the screen goes blank.

Re: Connecting blue ray to older tv

Chances are if your TV only has component video as the  high end then it will be old enough that it cannot interpret  the signal from the Blu Ray and would not be able to support the resolution.

Your best bet may be to consider a new TV

Re: Connecting blue ray to older tv

I was afraid that that would be the case. Thank you.
