Connecting Firestick to Samsung HT-C5500 Blu-ray Home Theater

I want to run my firestick with my Optoma HD20(COA) projector which is ceiling mounted through my  which only has HDMI out. My audio and video flows through the Samsung. When connecting directly to the projector I get video but no sound....How can I get my stick to show through my projector with sound?

I have pictures but I don't how how to add them here.

Re: Connecting Firestick to Samsung HT-C5500 Blu-ray Home Theater

Good Morning creolex,

Welcome to the Best Buy Support Online Forum Community! Thanks for joining our community, and posting a question. We’re always happy to see how we may be able to help.

Often time’s projectors do not have any sound of their own. Have you tried to plug the Amazon Firestick into one of the HDMI in ports on the back of the HT-C5500 receiver? Then connect the HDMI out to your Optoma projector? This should allow you to get sound to your Samsung Home Theater, and the picture through the projector on to the screen.

Please know you’ll not be able to take advantage of any 4K content as the HT-C5500 doesn’t have 4K pass through capabilities.  Let me know if that doesn’t seem to work for you, and I’d be happy to review the manuals again to see what other options you may have.

Respectfully,

Good morning,

The receiver only had hdmi out.  I have pictures of the entire set-up but need to know how to share them with you.

Re: Connecting Firestick to Samsung HT-C5500 Blu-ray Home Theater

Hello creolex,

Thank you for following up with me regarding your connection issues you're experiencing.

When drafting a reply you’re able to select the 10th icon in the text ribbon that looks like a square with mountains in it. This will allow you to upload a photo to show the back of your receiver and projector. I apologize for the confusion when I was reviewing the manuals for the Samsung HT-C5500 it included models 6000 &6500 which do have HDMI ins.

While reviewing the correct Samsung manual there is two ways your receiver can get sound. One way is through composite red & white cables, and the other is optical audio. Your Optoma HD20 projector doesn’t have Optical Audio Out so that means you’re more than welcome to try composite from your projector to your receiver. This may not work, but it is worth a try.

Thanks,
