Bedroom TV that doesn't suck?

I'm having trouble finding a TV for our bedroom...between 22"-30", $200-$400, 1080p, LED.  With those options, it seems to narrow me down to a sparse pool of poorly rated products (or the couple of well-reviewed ones that are sold out online and in all stores).  Will Best Buy ever provide a good product for this category, or should I just shop elsewhere?

Re: Bedroom TV that doesn't suck?

well unfortunatly this time of year (even after the holidays) when looking for any of the smaller TVs, they always seem hard to come by. That being said, The shelves and online stock will become availible again at some point. Now if you are willing to broaden your specs on the TV a little you might be able to find better stocking options that will allow you to get a TV sooner. Does it have to be LED or would you be willing to go regular LCD? The only difference between these two options is how the panel is lit. You could also look into 720p. 1080p is great and all but, with the sizes that you are looking for you most likely won't see a difference. The screen is too small to have a major difference. I never understood why they even made 1080p TVs under 32 inches.

There won't be many products in that segment for at least another year.

Re: Bedroom TV that doesn't suck?

You don't need a 1080p for that small of a tv as 720p will show very little difference. That's the reason you can't find it in that range except for bad ones. The companies that produce 1080p TVs in that range are banking on the customers belief that 1080p is the best which makes their cheaper made tv "better".

While you may find a good 1080p tv in that range, you will paying a premium for something that will show little difference. Its your choice if that little difference is worth a price tag 1.5-2 times as much as a comprable 720p TV.

You will (probably have) notice that a 720p can look sharper, cleaner and overall better than a sub quality 1080p tv in any size.
