BOSE doubleshot cube speakers

We bought a home recently that has hard wired BOSE doubleshot cube speakers installed in the four corners of our family room.  After doing some research, I believe this comes from a BOSE Acoustimass series.  We have a SONY surround sound system and it doesn't seem to work with the BOSE cube speakers.  I've heard that other brands typically aren't compatible with BOSE.

We'd like to get a base module (subwoofer) and Receiver that would be compatible with these already installed BOSE cube speakers.  How does this get figured out?  I know that Best Buy sells BOSE so I'm hoping these questions could get answered.

Thanks!

Re: BOSE doubleshot cube speakers

My understanding it is a matter of matching up the impedance to the speakers.

However, BOSE systems sound very nice with used in such manner. Perhaps you could pick up a Bose base unit to go with them.
