Sammy's brand quality only applies for their smart phones IMO, with an exception to maybe their refrigerators. As far as 3D TVs go, I would have to give the edge to LG or Panasonic. Samsung's TV have seriously been losing its touch the past 3-4 years beginning with their 2008 plasma line ups.

where you getting your info? I have tried all the brands listed, currently own FOUR Samsungs (2 LCD/LED & 2 Plasma) and extremely happy with them... no complaints at all!

I do a LOT of research on these before buying, plus go to several stores to check them out live.

Actually he is right, Samsung's quailty has gone down the tiolet for TV's.  Plus they have one of the worst customer service lines out there.  Ask anyone is the business about the quality of Samsung TV's it's been in decline for the last few years.

My brother is on his 3rd Samsung 3D TV and my Sister is on your 2nd 3D TV within in a year.  Listen all manufactures have kind of gone down hill a little but Samsung has had the biggest drop.

I have replaced more Samsung TV's in the past two years with issue's then I have any other TV out there.

It depends on what you mean by quality. I think this is where people are getting confused with eachother.

If you mean pure specs wise then Samsung is doing quite well. They keep dropping blacks, added 10 pt white level adjustment to quite a bit of their TVs, improved on their 3d dramatically this year, introduced BT 3d glasses which are much better IMHO, put out a great filter this year for their plasma lines etc etc.

If you are talking about build quality then yes Samsung is going down hill. This year their TVs have had filter peeling issues, bad rainbowing, bad clouding, FBr problems, black levels massively rising with cinema smooth on etc etc.

If you are talking about supporting their products then Samsung has not only is going down the toilet, but it's been flushed and currently resides in the sewer. They have denied so many legitimate claims for so long hoping that they just stop complaining. To get them to service their TVs is a MASSIVE nightmare.

I realize all TVs produced this year have had major flaws (sans LG, it was a good year for them). Sony and Panasonic ponied up and have fixed or replaced their defective TVs. Samsung has only fixed the filter peeling issue which was a massive fight and stupidly so as the consumer couldn't have done anything to make the filters peel.

Like I said if you get a good Samsung TV they are awesome, if you have to deal with their CS its TERRIBLE.

Not talking Spec wise, talking pure build quality and samsung CS.  I have installed a lot of Samsung TV's and have had so many issue's with them it's crazy.  And talking to their CS team is just plain horrible.  It's not a fun I can tell you that right now.

Spec wise, I think all manufactures are doing a great job at that..  Which is nice to see.

But I agree with everything you stated!!  I hate dealing with Samsung!!

Strange? I have four Samsungs in the house right now and love them all. Nary a problem with any of them.

One 32" LCD is four years old, still perfect.

Another 42" LCD is three years old, still perfect.

Another 50" Plasma two years old, still perfect.

Since those three Samsung's were so good, I got a brand new 59" Plasma three weeks ago... best HDTV I've seen yet. Extremely loving it.

So, why all the Samsung hate??? Samsung is doing just fine, thank you!

LOL it's not hate it's the truth. I deal with it on a daily basis. I am happy you have 4 TV's that work perfect from Samsung count yourself lucky.  Ask anyone who installs for a living and they will tell you Samsung is going down hill.

I own 4 panny plasma's and trust me Panny has thier issues as well but they have very good Customer Service which Samsung does not.  Makes a huge difference when you have a warranty issue.

Well, I haven't had to use Samsungs CS yet, so have no idea how they are, but their poducts over the years have been outstanding as I've never had to use CS.

Panny? What's that? I'm an old goat and don't know youngsters slang anymore.

1. The "Model" I have. 
Samsung PN59D550

2. What convinced me to purchase this particular "Model". 
Brand name and price of this model.

3. What I like best about my Plasma.
The picture quality is absolutely amazing, once I figured out you had to watch HD shows, not the standard ones.

4. What I don't like about my Plasma. 
Nothing not to like!

5. What "Feature(s)" I  wish my Plasma had.
Has everything I want!

6. What advice or suggestion would I make to the "Manufacture" about your Plasma. 
Samsung hit a home run with this one!

7. What was my biggest "Surprise" after I received my Plasma.
How the 3D worked! Fantastic!

Once I figured out the menu, nothing.

9. Do I really think that todays "Prices" are worth it.
In my case, yes! I got mine for $999 with two 3D glasses.

I love my Plasma! I was disappointed at first as it didn't seem anywhere as sharp as I saw at Best Buy. Problem was two things, once I put it in movie mode, that helped a bunch, then since I never bothered to watch the HD stations before, just the regular ones, so DUH! when I tried the first HD station to see, it was like "WOW" what a difference! Night and Day. Then I tried the 3D and that was a double "Wow".  Then I added Samsung's 5.1 Channel Blu-ray 3D Home Theater System.

The Samsung 59d550 is a nice TV.  It is very reflective and to me the blacks are a little grey but overall a nice TV.

Just cross our fingers you have no issue's with it. LOL, not fun dealing with Samsung CS..

That's the point we were trying to make Samsung is hit and miss on Quality Control. If you get a good batch then they are wonderful TVs. But if you get a bad batch or the TV has a built in glaring defect (see screen filter peeling on 6500+ series this year where they denied legitimate claims for 5-6 months and only caved when legal action was brought up).


I guess I should explain the screen filter issue more. Basically on the 6500,7000 and 8000 series they apply a "Real Black" screen filter (think tinting for your windows) to the INSIDE of the tv glass. These filters started peeling from the corners to where there were inches peeling down from the corners. For a while they blamed customers for the tv being in too hot of a room, then said it was normal, then said it was normal wear and tear (remember these TVs haven't even been out for a year yet). That went on for 5-6 months until Legal action was brought up and they finally caved in.

Well, I don't have to worry. I don't have that screen filter as I have a dark room for my Plasma.

I get all the features of the 7-8K plasma by doing this:
