I have a HP Photosmart C6180 All-In-One that is almost 3 years old. I have been told by HP tech that hardware needs repair. Specifically the scanner bulb. The printer does not fax, copy or scan, but does print from Mac OS 10. Is it more cost efficient to repair or replace with updated option? I use all features including SD memory card slot. Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I'd say replace it.

Nokia, do you have a replacement recommendation?

Just something in the same price range.

The HP C6380 is the logical replacement for this model.

Adam, thank you for the recommendation. I have looked at the specs on the HP C6380 and it doesn't have the fax function. I am looking for a printer that has all of these functions: fax, copy, scan, print and SM memory card slot. Any further recommendations? And, thank you for responding.

Ok, I need to ask a couple of other questions. What are you usually printing? Do you need color? Do you print photos? How much do you normally printer per month?

Adam, my estimated usage per month is as follows:
B/W prints from computer: 12 pages
B/W copies: 6
Color prints from computer for proofing graphic layouts: 8
Color prints for recreation/school: 6
Color 4 x 6 photos: 8
B/W Fax: 1-2
Scan: photos 2-4x month; also use scan to create PDFs for emailing occasionally
Memory Card slot usage: SanDisk about 2 or 3 times per month
Paper stock & size: 8.5 x 11 low to mid quality stock, #10 envelope, 4 x 6 photo paper, occasional 8.5 x 14" size paper.
All color prints, except for photo prints, are for proofing or school work only.
I almost never use window display on printer for viewing loaded photos. I prefer to load photos from printer onto computer to view and edit in photoshop. This usage is for personal use only.
Desktop space is limited so I'll be looking at dimensions.
Two and half years ago I purchased the HP Photosmart C6180 which I've been pretty happy with. I'm told by HP agent via phone support that the hardware needs repair; specifically the scanner bulb. The printer does still print from computer and accept memory cards. I've been without the other functions for about 3 weeks now.
My operating system is Mac OSX v.10.4.11. I will probably be upgrading to v10.5 within 6 months.
A wire and wireless connection option interests me as well.
Thank you for your time. I do appreciate it.
