I have been looking to buy Office 2007 Small Business and cannot figure out the difference between the Upgrade and Full versions. They have  a significant price difference. Does anyone know why?

The upgrade requires a prior version of Microsoft Office to be installed and the Full version does not.

Thank you for that. What I have is the free 60 day trial of Office 2007 that came with my laptop that I bought at Best Buy. Does that qualify?

Yes if you activate the trial at microsoft.com/office  you can use the upgrade to Small Business.

By "activate the trial" are you referring to purchasing Office Home and Student, and then purchasing the upgrade? If so, by purchasing both softwares you would exceed the cost of Office Small Business full version.

The original poster has not been on the boards since august. Please try to refrain from bumping older threads that have already been resolved. For other users:
You can not use the trial edition as an in place microsoft product to use the upgrade only edition, however, most computers have the full version of microsoft works 9 which does qualify. It has a couple bugs that sometimes require a works update for it to work but it will. Here is a link with a little info on the works update http://support.microsoft.com/kb/943290.
If you don't have works, you might look at getting the full edition. You can also just use the 2010 office which does not really do the upgrade/full edition thing anymore and simply either has download keys, or disc versions. The downloads are cheaper, but you don't get a disk and can only use it on one pc. The home and student disk version can go on 3 computers, and the professional and small business can go on two pcs with the same user. They do state it is for one home pc and one portable pc... All of the download codes can only go on one pc.
