Hello all!
I am a starting Virtual Assistant who's staring down the barrel of a very hefty workload in the next few months. Currently I do not have my own, dedicated machine to run my business from, and I have no idea what exactly I need.
Cost-wise, a netbook is obviously very attractive. I know the functionality isn't too varied, but essentially 90% of my business will be operated online using browser-based programs that I only need an Internet connection to access. Additionally, all of my business-related files will be regularly backed-up to an external hard drive (which I have not purchased yet). In other words, I intend to store very little in the way of programs or files on my laptop.
Netbook: good idea or bad idea? Should I hold out for a good laptop? Would a netbook be a good "interim" machine to get myself started with my business?
I appreciate any opinions you might have. Please keep in mind that I have never actually seen a netbook in real life and have learned very little from researching them - people seem to be pretty ambivalent about them.
Thanks!

I'd just get a good laptop. Even a cheap laptop will be faster than the best netbook. Plus its easier on the eyes looking at a 15" or larger screen than a 10".
