With the new fax machines is it necessary for me to have a landline? In other words, can I use the USB port on the fax machine to connect to my computer and use an online fax service. I want the fax machine because I often have multi-page faxes, so it's a hassle to scan page after page on the flatbed scanner on my printer. So...fax>computer>Internet fax service. Possible? Or do I need a phone line? Thanks for any help you folks can offer! Purp

I was looking at a Brother Intellifax--I forget the model number, but it sells for about $129.00. I is equipped with a USB port for the purpose, according to the info given, of connecting the fax machine to a printer. I wanted to know if it is possible to connect the USB port to a computer, use the fax machine to scan the pages, then rather than use the fax machine to send over the phone line, use the computer to send via an Internet fax service. In other words, use the fax machine as a scanner, but one with a document feeder rather than a flat bed.
