Hi hockeycanuckjc,
I agree completely that using your computer as another way to watch TV is a great way to both save on energy, and if your computer is Energy Star rated you will save even more money. I can see the day coming when TV will be streamed live via the internet, and your computer won't even need a TV tuner to be able to watch your favorite shows.

Oh yes, all of my electronics in my room are Energy Star Compliant. They have the sticker to designate it.
My Grandmother is still the only one in our family room with a 30"+ Tube Television. She is one of those people who will only replace something when its absolutely broken. One day when I land a good job, I will save up enough money and buy her a new television to help her save on her electricity bill even more.
But as long as her Animal Planet is around on analog cable shes happy. She could do without the newer stuff.
