Removal of old appliances

Will the delivery personnel take and dispose of the old small appliances like a microwave and compact refrigerator?

Re: Removal of old appliances

Hey drcarberry -

If you are having new appliances or television equipment delivered, our personnell will haul away one item per item delivered.  Some of our locations also host weekend recycling events.  For more information on this please check this link.

I hope this helps!

Re: Removal of old appliances

Here in Citrus Heights, CA we have 3 neigborhood cleanups a year and we can set appliances out like the ones mentioned. However , if we gone over a certain space in the pile, we would have to pay an oversize fee based on the amount of stuff put out.

Re: Removal of old appliances

This is marginally relevant to this board, but Blue Staters, take note. Did you know that Best Buy rules in New York State and New Jersey (and possibly other states as well) restrict the "drivers" who deliver and "install" new washing machines from unhooking your old one--you have to do it yourself.  This information wasn't given to me at the store (although apparently there is a brochure) but WAS included in the voicemail providing my delivery time.  I thought I could manage it but learned that my hands are too weak, my pliers too wimpy, and my washer too awkwardly placed in a corner and on a platform for me to manage it. Further, my conversation with the warehouse customer service manager revealed another striking bit of information: the people who deliver the machine will not hook it up unless you have a dedicated drain--with BB, the utility sink route is no good. Go figure.  If you live in an old house, this is definitely worth knowing.

Wrong answer!

Small appliances like the microwave and compact refrigerator are sent via UPS who does not take old appliances.

Re: Wrong answer!

Hi dscarberry,

I think we should have been clearer, and I apologize for any misinformation you might have received in regards to the recycling of your small appliances. You are correct if your new appliances are delivered by UPS the old appliances would not be hauled away and recycled by UPS. Larger appliances are delivered by Best Buy®, and if any smaller appliances are being delivered along with the larger ones we should haul away one smaller appliance for each one being delivered by Best Buy®. To recycle your smaller appliances there should be multiple recyclers in your local area, but most will charge to recycle your old appliances. To find a list of recyclers in your local area you could go here. Once again I apologize for any misinformation you might have gotten from Best Buy®, and I was glad to hear you're recycling your old appliances! I hope this helps you out!

Thanks,
Allan
