I was interested in finding out about how to get either store credit for, or cash for electronic items not bought at Best Buy. Well, all the info was there on-line, and it was explained well. But, when it came to putting in my state, FLORIDA, the drop down box did not show my state. Say it isn't true! Does Florida not have this program available??

Hi temorng,
Thanks for reaching out to us on this! I went to the trade-in link on BestBuy.com, and I see what you’re saying; I also didn't see Florida on the drop down menu, and in fact I only count 43 states on this list. To be honest I don't understand this since all of our stores nationwide participate in the trade-in program. With that said our trade-in program at our stores will only accept purchases made from our company, and the stores should be requiring a copy of the receipt for the item being traded in.
Our online trade-in program does not require a copy of a Best Buy® receipt, and accepts purchases made anywhere. I hope this helps!
Thanks for posting,

Well I guess that is the best answer we can hope for, so to all those out there, so it looks like there is no buy back program in florida, unless you have purshaced from best buy. What a shame. Hopefully Best Buy will find it in their hearts and pocket books, or something to allow this in the sometime near future.

Hi tominflorida,
There are two ways we accept items for trade-in. We accept items purchased from Best Buy® to be traded-in at a customer's local store (assuming they are eligible for trade-in). We also accept over twenty different types of products for trade-in online, and we would not require the item have been purchased from us for our online program.
For the online program you would just fill out the requested information about the product you want to trade-in, you should be given an amount that we would offer for the item based upon your description, you would then be advised where to ship it to, we would verify that your description was accurate once received, and assuming your description was correct we would then mail you a Best Buy® gift card in the amount initially given to you.
I see that there are actually only 43 states in the drop down menu for stores that have trade-in offered at their store. I can assure you that we would want all of our store's participating in this program if possible, and the fact that there are entire states not listed I would assume this to mean there is a good reason why we don't have this option in those states (i.e. some state law preventing this, etc...).
I hope this helps!
