Why have Nest Learning Thermostat availability dates changed frequently at Best Buy recently?

The Best Buy website experienced very high demand for the Nest Learning Thermostat at the time of launch on 10/25. Our systems are designed to update you around availability as soon as it changes. We understand these systematic changes resulted in confusing messages and apologize for the inconvenience.   

If you pre-ordered the Nest Learning Thermostat, how will you know when product is available?

If you placed a pre-order between 10/25 and 10/27, your product should ship by 11/30. For pre-orders placed between 10/28 and 11/5, your product should ship by 12/20. For pre-orders placed between 11/6 and 11/22, availability is approximately 12/27. At this time Best Buy is Sold Out of the Nest Learning Thermostat.  Dates are subject to change. For automatic updates, you can subscribe to this FAQ’s RSS feed by clicking the “Topic Options” menu above this post, then “Subscribe to RSS Feed.”  In the meantime, confirm that your system is compatible with Nest by clicking here.

What is the Nest Learning Thermostat?

The Nest Learning Thermostat learns about you and your home to automatically turn itself down when you're away, guide you to energy-efficient temperatures when you’re home, and free you from programming hassles by creating a customized temperature schedule.

Do I have to program the Nest Learning Thermostat myself?

For the first week, you use the Nest Learning Thermostat as you would a manual thermostat and Nest learns from your adjustments. In about a week, Nest learns your schedule and will change the temperature of your home automatically. You can also change the schedule manually at any time.

Can I control the Nest Learning Thermostat outside of my home?

If you connect your Nest to Wi-Fi, you can monitor and adjust your Nest from a smartphone, tablet, or computer with Internet access.

Will the Nest Learning Thermostat change the temperatures if no one is home?

Nest adjusts to an energy-conserving temperature when it senses that there hasn’t been any activity in your home for an extended period of time. This feature is called Auto-Away.

When and where will I be able to purchase the Nest Learning Thermostat in Best Buy stores?
