50" Rear Projection Haul Away...?

So my 50" rear projection TV (aka "The Beast") finally died tonight. For $50 (classifieds!) the 3 years of low-definition, but wonderfully large, home entertainment has certainly served us well.

Alas, a new plasma is in the very, very near future, and I really want to take advantage of BB's free delivery/haul away on TVs $999 and up offer.

After reading through some of these forums, I've become a bit skittish when it comes to the "haul away" bit. My problem is I live on the third floor of an apartment. Getting a new school plasma up the stairs will take a bit of muscle, but should be easily do-able for those strapping delivery type dudes.

However, I'm worried that when it comes to getting The Beast down three flights of stairs, the delivery guys may just say "no thanks" and then I'm left with the biggest, ugliest piece of non-decor in my apartment. Is there any way, if I buy a new TV from BB, I can have any sort of guarantee that they will remove my very heavy old TV???

I understand it is at the discretion of the delivery gents, and of course the last thing I want is seeing someone be seriously injured by this thing. But would 100% disclosure of the size of the TV being removed perhaps ensure they bring proper equipment/muscle?

Thanks in advance.

Re: 50" Rear Projection Haul Away...?

Hi SauceTheCat,

We don't base the decision of whether or not the delivery team hauls away your old TV on weight or difficulty factor. Our teams are used to hauling away some pretty heavy things. Rather, the decision would be made on if the team thinks it is safe or not due to the steps involved. So your delivery team would only be able to make that determination when we are at the location unfortunately.

100% disclosure is great! We appreciate when our customers are honest about the ancient monoliths that they ask us to move for them. We'll be up front with you as well when we are able to get the delivery team out there to check out the space involved. They will let you know if it's possible for them to do given the space allowed and size of the TV, etc.
