I get tired of being treated like I am scamming Best Buy by using coupons that they send to me.
Today I went to Store #338 to purchase the Sony PS3 3D display. The item is listed as a PS3 Accessory and is sold along the isle between the Game section and the TV section. In November when I tried to purchase this with the $50 GC with a $500 purchase, I was told that it wouldn't work because it was a Video Game HARDWARE! This time I am denied because it is counts as a computer MONITOR? I can't tell if this is an individual store trying to protect their bottom line by arbitrarily denying coupons or if items are being reclassified to avoid honoring the coupon?
Neither of these denials make any sense to me nor do they make me feel like the "Valued Customer" that my Silver Status is supposed to indicate. If stores will not honor coupons as sent by Corporate Office, then you should stop sending them out!
In the end I bought the 3D Display and hope that a CS agent here can help make this right for me.
Best Regards,
David

I to have had the bad experience of trying to use the Best Buy Reward Zone coupons. Last year, we spent aprroixmately $335 on my daughters I-touch bundled package and the $25 coupon was denied because it was an Apple purchase. This occurred in the West Lebannon, NH store and no one in the store could tell me why the coupon was denied. I had to find out on line.
We went back to same store this year. My daughter purchased a remoter car starter on 11/11/11. The next day, the coupon book arrives in the mail which in effect started on 11/04/11. The coupon book arrived late. We go to store #418 to redeem the coupon for the $10 gift card. We were told that we would need to return the item, pay the sales tax which we did not have to in New Hampshire (which was approximately $10 in tax) in order to get a $10 gift card. Once again denied.
Later on in store #418, I tried to use the $50 reward zone coupon for two Amazon Kindle Fire's, two cases and two shields totaling over $500. Once again, we were denied the $50 gift card because buried in the coupon, it excludes e-readers. Once again, denied.
Today, I spent close to $280 in store #418 for a Canon camera bundle and I handed the sales person my coupon for a Best Buy $25 gift card. It would not go through. She could not figure why not. She rings up the camera without the coupon and sends me to wait in line for aproximately 30-40 minutes to talk to someone in customer service. Once I got to customer service, two other people could not figure out why I could not get the $25 gift card. They had to call for a store manager. After placing the coupon under a microscope and reading it for 10 minutes, they concluded that I could not use it because I was getting a camera bundle and I could not take advantage of the extra savings. I say - WHY NOT! How is the typical customer suppose to know this? I purposely spent over the $250 to take advatnage of the $25 gift card and for the fourth time, I was denied. What difference does it make because I was buying a bundle package. i did as the coupon specified and spent a certain dollar amount and again I was denied. The manager who denied me the gift card this time around is a person that I have dealt with in the past and not once has she ever seen it my way. When I proceeded to leave, I ran into another Best Buy associate and asked her to talk to another sales manager that I have dealt with. She called him and even though he knew who I was, he refused to come out and honor the coupon as well. Meanwhile, the whole time the first store manager just stood there observing what was happening like I was questioning her authority which I was. She was actually getting upset with me. I left the store with a rather negative feeling of Best Buy and the reward zone coupons that they send out to get you in their store and then not honor them after you make your purchase. If thats the case, why bother sending out the coupons. Four times I have tried and four times I have been denied. I begin to sense a trend. Happy Holidays - yeah right!

Having made four substantial purchases with my reward zone coupon, I still feel it is somewhat strange that not once could I use the coupon. I have been loyal to Best Buy and I would of hoped that the loyalty would of been returned back to me from Best Buy when trying to use a reward zone coupon. Not one time did I return any of the items that I purchased when I expected to use a reward zone coupon and was denied. When it takes several Best Buy associates to spend 10-15 minutes to figure out why the coupon can not be used, or even leave the store without an explanation, how am I, the customer, suppose to know the difference? Why not just list on the coupon what it could be used for. These coupons just leave the customer dissapointed.
Thank you for your reply.

Crystal - I agree with you in regards to Whalerfan's complaint that his purchases were clearly excluded on the coupon. We all can argue about the disingenuous nature of a coupon that has and exclusion list 2 times longer than the actual offer, but at the end of the day the exclusions are there and the consumer should be able to get the offer if they stay within the guidelines. In my case I believe that on both occasions of attempting to redeem the coupon I was not purchasing an item on the exclusion list.
As a consumer I only have a few pieces of information to clasify a product; 1) the use of the product, in my case a PS3 branded 3D Display marketted and used for playing video games, 2) The classification on Best Buy's own website, where the Display is grouped under Video Game Accesories and 3) The physical location of the product in the store, the display in my store resides between the video game section and the TV section allong with controllers, Headsets and other Video Game Accesories. I do not have access to BB's internal system to decipher where corporate decides a product is clasified. Based on what I see as a consumer I have attempted to purchase what appears to either be a Video Game Accesory or a TV from the store. The first time I was denied because it was "Video Game Hardware" and 4 weeks later I am denied because it was a "Computer Monitor". I don't agree but can accept the first classification, but the second is crazy in my opinion. If it really is a computer monitor, then why are there no boxes in the computer section and why isn't it setup for display in the computer section like EVERY other monitor the store sells?

After four attempts of using the rewards zone coupons that Best Buy sent me (even though the coupon booklet arrived over a week late), I hope that a CS agent here can help make this right for me.

If I go to use a coupon that was sent to me from Best Buy four times, and in using the coupon when I purchased the an Apple i-touch and the staff at the Best Buy doesn't even know why the coupon doesn't go through and I leave the store without an explanation or when I buy a digital camera and it takes 3-4 Best Buy associates 15 minutes if not longer to figure out why the coupon is not going through, how am I as the normal consumer suppose to decipher what the coupon is good for and what it is not good for. Too many times I hear "Lets ring up the order first and see if the coupon goes through" which of course does not. I made these purchases in good faith hoping that Best Buy would honor what is stated in the front of the coupon. i wouldn't think that I would need to bring a lawyer with me to figure out what is written on the back of the coupon when most of the time even Best Buy doesn't even know.

If you actually spend a few seconds reading the back of the coupon, you will see that those items are excluded. Why would Best Buy be at fault for your ignorance? Do you really need a lawyer to help you read the back of a coupon?
