I have been a rewards zone member for about 2 and 1/2 years. Last year I became a Silver member until February 2010 and I just recently extended that through February 2011. I have become a loyal Best Buy customer, mainly because of the rewards program, because that is what brought me back to the store, but also I have always received excellent customer service and the store is always clean and organized. So I recently decided to apply for the Best Buy Mastercard to extend the rewards benefits. When applying I was asked for my current Rewards Zone Member ID#, based on this and everything I have read regarding the program, I was under the impression I would use the mastercard with my current rewards membership. I received my mastercard, but I also received an email with my new rewards zone member ID number. I sent an email last week and again this morning to the rewards zone email address, but I have not received a response back. Can my purchases be transferred to the new member ID so I do not lose the benefits of my premier silver membership? Also, will I receive a new rewards zone membership card in the mail? Lastly, I do not want to have to create a new profile on the rewards zone website. I have one email address that I use and I read in a previous post that the member had to create a new one. Is it possible to still use the same profile and have it switched to the new membership?

Hi there! Yes the accounts can be merged. One of our Community Connectors will be in contact with you in the next couple of business days to obtain your RewardZone information. Thank you for your patience.

Thanks Adam, but I just received a response to the email I sent last week to rewardzone@bestbuy.com and she told me the two accounts can not be merged, that I first have to obtain Silver status on the Mastercard account or else I will lose Silver status if they transfer the points. Is this the case? She suggests using BOTH rewards memberships, my current one for all cash and other credit card purchases and then the Mastercard membership just for the Best Buy Mastercard purchases. It would be quite a challenge for me to obtain Silver membership if I am using two different accounts. I find it hard to believe the points CAN be transferred but Best Buy can not upgrade the second account to Silver status. Maybe this should be made clear when someone signs up for the mastercard and they already have an existing rewards zone membership! I have enough credit cards and I only decided to apply for this one because of the rewards program and I thought I would still have the Premier Silver account status.

That I am not 100% sure about, I would wait for one of the Community Connectors to contact you.

Amber... I totally feel your frustration. I was told the same thing. I mean, do they seriously expect us to use to reward zone accounts? It is also annoying because I had to create another email address to activate the new account. This issue seems silly to me because merging accounts should be a simple task...![]()

Apparently the do! It is ridiculous, they really should have this information somewhere when signing up for the mastercard, it is misleading, especially since they ask for your current member ID number. I love the rewards benefits, but to have to start over with a second account is very frustrating! I have received no response yet from Best Buy to these posts and I finally received responses to the emails I sent last week and earlier this week. The first telling me as I indicated in my previous post and the second telling me that they see another agent had already assisted me with my concern! Not really! I understand the rewards program is to benefit us, but it is the rewards program that keeps me a loyal customer to Best Buy, so it also benefits them. Premier Silver member here, so we know I have spent more than $2500 and I can tell you it is a lot more than that! And I have been a Silver member for the past two years, since shortly after I signed up, I never really shopped at Best Buy before then, but as I said, the rewards program brought me back, especially after I became a Premier Silver member and get to bank the points. I do go out of my way to shop at Best Buy and even if it costs a little more I will still usually shop there instead of going elsewhere, only because of the rewards program, rewards for me = sales for Best Buy! I have never had any other problems shopping with Best Buy, it is a great store and their rewards program puts them on top - So I hope they get this resolved quickly!

Wow, I couldnt agree more. I am going through the exact same thing word for word. I have never been so mad in my life. I just made a post and hope someome gets back to me. I have spent more money at best buy than anywhere else, and feel as they are jerkin me around. They have me call HSBC and HSBC has me call RewardZone and I get nowhere. I know your frustration it seems as they straight up lie to you. Sucks for u, but your not the only one this is happening to. What ever happened with your situation?

I completely understand your frustration! They can merge your accounts, mine finally got merged in the beginning of this month and I did NOT spend $2500 on my mastercard yet, so the new account does NOT have to be silver for them to be merged. They upgraded my new account to silver and then they merged the two accounts for me giving me all of my old points back. I emailed one of the BB community reps on here, here name is Sarah. Send her a private message (see your upper right corner, little envelope) she was EXTREMELY helpful in getting this resolved for me, doesn't seem like anyone else knew what they were doing when I called and emailed. So send a private message to SARAH-BBY, hope she can help you and goodluck!
