So I had a Best Buy card for a while and I have around $2000 in my balance, I just applied to get a Reward Zone Mastercard and got it. Question is, since it hasn't came in yet I was curious, does this count as a separate card with a separate balance or is the balanced shared on both cards? With the difference being that I can use the Mastercard anywhere I want and of course the Best Buy card only in store or on the site?

They are completely separate cards administered by entirely different banks.

I think you posted a great question about the difference between a Best Buy credit card and a Reward Zone MasterCard.
 
The cards are different in a few ways; mainly, as you stated, the Best Buy credit card can only be used at Best Buy whereas the Reward Zone MasterCard can be used anywhere that MasterCard is accepted.  Also, available financing promotions can only be used in conjunction with the Best Buy credit card.  However, when you use your Reward Zone MasterCard at Best Buy; you will earn extra Reward Zone points versus any other form of payment.  You will have two separate cards, each with their own credit limit and separate statements each month.

The bank that issues the Reward Zone MasterCard is HSBC.  HSBC also issues some of our Best Buy cards, with others issued by Chase;therefore it is possible they will both be through the same bank.  For more information on the benefits of each card, check out this page on BestBuy.com.
