HSBC problem

Hello all,

I went online and saw the "no interest for 18 months for purchases totaling $249 and up" offer and decided to apply, Since my ps3 recently broke down. I got approved by HSBC and made my purchase. When i picked it up at the store i decided to buy 2 games in total the pruchase came out to $480. With the initial ps3 purchase totaling $320. Following the advice below.

"Offer valid at BestBuy.com® and in Best Buy® stores. (For cards issued by Chase bank, offer valid in store only.)"

located at http://www.bestbuy.com/site/null/null/pcmcat163300050048.c?id=pcmcat163300050048

This was a week ago. I got my card today and bill state and see that interest will start to appply in only 90 days. I think it must be a mistake since it clearly says online and at the store where i got it 18 months interest free.

I call hsbc customer service to activate my card and ask about this at 1-800-365-0292, they tell me they have no such promotion. They advise me i have to call best buy promotions and have them call THEM and tell them so they can update it. They even transfer me to best buy 1-888-237-8289.

I wonder what does BB have to do with the credit since its hsbc who is issuing it, i speak to a cust serv rep and she sees the promotion but is at a loss at what to do. She tells me to call 1-866-435-7229. She tells me its bb help desk. I call it and its an employee number and no one can help me since i dont work at bb.

I call hsbc they tell me they are going to open a case to investigate the offer (even though i tell them multiple times its in the website) i tell them how long is it going to take? since if they decide no to uphold the agreement i will simply return the items and close out the account since i am still within the return period.

They tell me 2 billing cycles! so basically 15 days past the return policy time. Man i really wish things were just as they seem it says 18 months why can't they just fix it?. Anyone care to offer tome help or guidance on how to get this fixed?

Re: HSBC problem

Hi Melacanth –

Welcome to the Best Buy forums!

Thanks for taking the time to voice your concerns regarding your recent purchase and the financing through HSBC.  I can see how this situation has been frustrating and I apologize that you were bounced back and forth between HSBC and Best Buy.

You are correct per the terms of the financing offer at the time of purchase that a purchase over $249 qualifies for no interest for 18 months.  We do strive to ensure all customers receive the advertised financing offer, when qualified, through our partnership with HSBC.  These offers can vary depending on the purchase date and details are posted on our website or in the weekly ad.

I have been able to look into your specific situation further and have sent you a private message with some additional information.  To check your private messages, click on the envelope in the upper right hand corner when logged into the Best Buy forum.

If you have any additional questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out on the forums or send me a private message.

Thank you, Coral
