Everyone complaining about losing points - you do understand that the only thing you "lose" is the points that don't add up to multiples of 250, right? So if you have 1088 points, you automatically get a $20 certificate, and you lose 88 points.
88 points is the equivalent of $1.76.
Or let's say you have 400 points. You would lose 150 points in that case. Oh no, 150 points sounds like a lot! Except it's the equivalent of $3.00.
Look, I don't really like the policy. And I don't understand BB's explanation of it - I think some clown said it's in place because BB wants to measure how people use their points? That makes no sense. It's obviously in place to save BB money.
But is it really that big of a deal, when the benefits greatly outweigh the "loss" of a couple of dollars?
I guess if people feel it's that big of a deal they can always just leave the program.

Everyone keeps saying BB takes away the points to save BB money. How? They are giving you free money every time you spend 250$. If they wanted to save money they would just cancel the program, or start charging $10 a yr for it again. List below all the other electonic stores that offer this free program, that also offer the return policy, and services that they do. They also offer the online mall, where you can earn points through hundreds of other retailers.
Circuit city stores went out of business cause they couldnt compete with BB. In NJ other stores that had cheaper prices cant compete with bestbuys service. 6th Ave Electronics went out of business. Why, cause they didnt want to deal with warrenty issues(get this you buy a tv get home hook it up the speaker dont work, their policy send it to the manufacture) bestbuy would swap it asap for a new one for you and deal with the busted tv themselves.
I dont know why bestbuy resets their points every yr but they do, thats the policy its in the faq/rules. I doubt its to messure how people use their points.
If your really worried about your points expiring, spend more or get the rewardzone mastercard. That way youll be premier silver.

Hi,
Well I lost 216 points, I am not one to spend a lot, but the 5 or 10 dollars gets me back to BB.
Just purchased a 3d dvd player and I was going to add the points up.
There are a lot of other stores where I live.
Thanks

216 points is $4.32.
But think about this - you didn't "lose" $4.32...because that was free money to begin with.
This is kind of like if someone said they were going to give you $25 but then when it came time to give you money, they only had a $20 bill. Would you say "oh, gee, you said $25 so I don't want your $20 and I will never talk to you again"?
No, you'd say "hey, thanks for the free $20! It would have been better if you told me it would be $20 all along, instead of $25...but I'll still take it and be happy!"
Again, I think the policy is dumb...but treating lost points as if they are "lost dollars" is just silly. It was free money to begin with, take what you can get and be happy.

That depends on how you shop. If I shop by price, and I decide to purchase at Best Buy because my purchase will get me X points, which gives me X dollars extra, then my price point is different. So if I am counting on those X points to offset the cost differential, then I didn't get the deal I was counting on. So it is not always "free" money if you use that to figure your total cost of an item.
This is more like them saying, "If you buy from me I will give you $20.00", but when the time comes they say "No you only get $15.00, lose the partial credit you have and cannot use the purchase you made 29 days ago to bring your partial credit up to get the other $5.00." What I then say is "Fine, I will take my $15.00 and go buy from somewhere else where it was cheaper anyway." It's not at all like someone giving me money for nothing at all.
This topic orginally started because Best Buy did not reset the points for several years, then switched their website and started resetting points without warning. They also don't mention that when they ask you to sign up and it's not even on the paper they hand you in the store. You have to dig through their RZ website to find that. If Best Buy would be up front about how the points system works and could get their points system working correctly (because even after all this time, they system glitches and removes and restores points at random intervals), this would not be an issue.
For some of us, it IS lost money. How will Best Buy know why we stopped shopping there unless we tell them?

I would like to retract my negative reply on the annual point expiration.never write a message while being angry.

Quick question: Does the annual point expiration applicable to BestBuy Rewards Zone Credit Card members?

Definitely agreed. I got 200 points, and three days after they posted to my account they expired, I didn't get a chance to print out a certificate.
Going to be cutting up all my best buy cards and RZ card. I am done with Best Buy because they have taken my rightfully earned points twice now. Walmart and other stores will now benefit from my electronic purchases. And I am going to tell everyone I know not to patronize Best Buy and it's anti-customer practices.
Shame on your Best Buy -
Chris
