What if you have more in RZ certificates than the cost of an item?

I have over $100 in RZ points due to the recent Gamer's Club promotion, and with the upcoming cut-off of points (if you don't turn points into certificates they are lost), I'm going to need to turn all of my points into certificates.

My question is, if I print out a RZ certificate for $100 and only buy a $40 item, what happens?

Techinally, to be safe, I could print out a bunch of $5 certificates but that would be really annoying to both me and the cashier.

Also, what day is the point expiration?

The certificates must be applied in full to the price of an item before tax. The value of the certificate cannot exceed the price of the item you're buying.

If you don't know what you're going to be buying, there shouldn't be a problem with $5 certificates. You can select "print all" and the cashier should be able to scan them quickly.
