Void certificates

[ Edited ]

I thought I was just checking how much I had in certificates ... what a surprise I got when I received an email saying my certificate was available. I want to void it and return the points to my account. I'm not ready to buy anything and don't foresee anything costing that much in the next couple months. I'm saving it for an Ipad this fall. Help!

Re: Void certificates

Good morning Debi -

Welcome to the forum and thank you for reaching out to us! If you haven't already, please take a moment to review my responses above.

Please know that your certificate was issued as part of our tier expiration process. When you don't requalify for Elite or Elite Plus status, you are switched to our Core status. Unfortunately the benefit of banking points is not extended to our Core tier, so any banked points you may have had are converted to certificates. I apologize for any disappointment that this may cause you.

Please feel welcome to review our 2017 My Best Buy Tier Expiration FAQ.

Point Banking disappeared?

Hey all,

As an Elite member, I've always kept point-banking option on my account. However, just this week I got an email saying a Rewards Certificate had automatically been generated. In addition, going into my Rewards account, the Points Banking option is no longer showing. I definitely know I met 2016 spending requirements to maintain Elite, so it's not that

Appreciate any help in tracking this sucker down - LMK if you need any account info from me and thanks in advance!

Re: Point Banking disappeared?

Hello kimpromo -

Welcome back to the forum, although I wish it were under better circumstances. Many purchases don't count towards your tier spend amount, such as purchases paid for by gift card or reward certificates. If you're still certain you should have qualified, please feel welcome to send me a private message with the details below, and I'll be delighted to take a closer look.

@ArtVandelay - Please know that tier expiration is a part of our My Best Buy program terms, which you agreed to upon registration. When reverted to our Core tier as an Elite or Elite Plus tier status expires, point banking is no longer a benefit, and so points are converted into certificates. Please also be aware that once points are converted to certificates, they may not be converted back to points, per our My Best Buy FAQ

Elite Plus Question

Bestbuy,

I spent over $3500 last year 2016 but I did not qualified as Elite Plus this year why?

I know that I place many orders on New Year's Eve (which is still 2016, hence New Year's Eve NOT New Year!) and would push me over the $3500 for 2016 year.

So why did these order amount applied to 2017 year?

I thought that policy is that spend $3500 with the same year would qualify me as Elite Plus status. The key word here is SAME YEAR!

Please review my account and make any corrections accordingly.

Bestbuy state same year, I spent $3500 or more same year 2016. But some amount from 2016 applied to 2017!

Why?

Please let me know.

Thanks

Re: Elite Plus Question

You say you placed orders on New Year's Eve. The purchase doesn't count until the order is shipped. If you had been in a store on New Year's Eve and made purchases that you took out of the store on that day, then they would count for last year,

Before posting I try to research everything first or use my own experiences. I do not now nor have I ever worked for Best Buy. After a year and a half hiatus, I'm back working for the competition.
If you respond to a post of mine, I will read it. I may or may not post in the thread again, but rest assured I will read your response Smiley Happy

Re: Elite Plus Question

I just called My Best Elite Plus number and talked to a rep.

She told me that there was a computer gliche of some sort and that they are working on fixing my status. She said that on one screen I am an Elite Plus and another just Elite. But overall, I am Elite Plus.

The issue should be resolved mid next week.  She gave me a case number and asked me to follow up mid next week.

Elite Plus member - Certificates automatically issued

I am an Elite Plus Member and received an email saying that 2 reward certificates have been issued for my account with a May expiration date. I have always banked my points and did not authorize these certifcates to be issued. Who do I need to contact to fix this issue? Thanks in advance.
