Reward Zone Points Lasted two days before expiring.

Hey all, I am trying to find some resources to help me figure out what to do about getting some reward zone points back.

 

Heres the story....

 

On December 29, 2011 I purchased a Blackberry Playbook for 199.99 on bestbuy.com and had to drive awhile to the nearest store to pick it up. I used my Reward Zone card and was glad to be able to finally make a big purchase and get some more points going on my RZ account.  I was told that it would take a little over a month for the points to post to my account so I waited and the points posted at the very beginning of February... than three days later, the POINTS EXPIRED! The points were on the accounf for just a couple of days, not even giving me enouigh time to go and redeem a Reward Zone certificate.

 

I called Reward Zone customer service and I think the language barrier made it so the representative couldn't fully understand what I was saying, and told me that I needed to return the product and repurchase it to get the points. I find this highly unorthodox and odd.

 

I would like to be fairly compensated the points that I rightfully earned.

 

Does anyone have any advice? Or should I discontinue all business and close all accounts with best buy?

If I am not mistaken, this is because of the RZ's annual points expiration policy, but it will only happen if your points is less that 250 before January 1 of each year. Rewards Certificates are issued at the end of the year but since you did not reach 250 points before January of this year, no certificates will be issued for you and all your points have expired., This is why  you have to make sure that your points are in multiples of 250 points before January of each year. I know this policy sucks and A lot of people are complaining about this policy expecially because mostly buy a lot of stuff during Christmas season, but all you have to do is to monitor your points and make sure you have at least 250 points before January, and tha's it

also, returning and repurchasing that item maybe a good idea to get your points back.

Hello, I actually had about 400 points when the 199 points expired. However 200 of those points were from purchases made in January. Were kind of being penalized for making purchases at Best Buy during the holidays. Will never do so again.And will find other stores to purchase our holiday electronics from.

 

And returning the product and repurchasing the product is too much of a hassle to simply correct a problem that wasn't even my fault. We are probably going to just close our BB accounts and take it as loss.

you realize your "loss" was about $4, right?

200 points is the equivalent of $4.

I've seen this "penalty" before, and I believe once a Community Connector sees this they will attempt to get your points back to you. The points aren't supposed to expire for 12 months after the purchase is made, at least as I recall from the program terms last time I read them.

I love Best Buy even though I work for a competitor, I do not now nor have I ever worked for Best Buy.

As is written in the Program Rules listed on our Reward Zone site, at the beginning of the calendar year, any points in your account will be issued as a reward certificate down to the $5 level, and any remaining points will be forfeited.
